Our Strategy for Science Education

The Amgen Foundation is reimagining how students access and experience science learning. We believe that everyone, everywhere should have the opportunity to participate in science, regardless of race, ethnicity, income, gender, geography, sexual orientation or disability.

strategy

Everyone Needs Science

The Amgen Foundation is guided by the belief that everyone needs science and science needs everyone. Understanding the fundamentals of science is as critical as reading and writing and location and financial status should no longer be barriers to high-quality science education. By broadening access to engaging and inspiring science programs, we are equipping future generations with the essential skills needed to thrive in our increasingly complex world. From healthcare crises and climate change to debunking misinformation, humanity needs science to solve the challenges of the future.

That’s why we create authentic opportunities for young people to engage in science through hands-on experiences and technologies that complement in-person learning. Our vision is to make science accessible to everyone but we can’t do it alone. Parents and guardians help foster curiosity in children, to guide their interests and career journeys. Teachers are catalysts for change and staff volunteers provide insights in the world of STEM. Together, we enable young people to see how science influences their lives and the important role it plays in our world.
